October 24, 2017 – the day that I decided to finally take a giant leap of faith and give this whole blog thing a try. For years, I’ve followed various fashion and lifestyle blogs on Instagram and I’ve always secretly wished that I was cool enough and stylish enough to start my own blog. Well, today I decided that I need to stop wasting time wishing and start doing what I wanted for so long and thus “Simply EJV” began.
This morning I woke up determined to do the dang thing and by 7pm, I did the dang thing and I couldn’t be happier. Going into my closet this morning I was faced with the “what should I wear” question that every girl with too many clothes faces but before I knew it I was dressed and ready to begin the picture taking. I spent 45 minutes traipsing around my family’s new yard with my mum directing me to stand under that tree or stand in that grassy knoll or to stand in front of the weird tractor thing in the yard. In the end, I had way too many pictures to choose from but I knew all the best spots to take my pictures in the days, weeks, and months to come.
The outfit I chose for my inaugural blog post was simple but very Emily Jane. My skirt, sweater, and necklace are all J. Crew Factory. The skirt I wore today is one of my absolute favorite items. It is the J. Crew Factory wool sidewalk skirt in navy blue. I love mixing it with things that people wouldn’t expect and looking so stylish and comfy. Sadly, J. Crew Factory didn’t bring the navy blue sidewalk skirt out this year but the link for the current color sidewalk skirts is at the bottom of my post. Going with my J. Crew Factory trend, my top is the V-neck pullover sweater in Vintage Champagne and another one of my favorites (link at bottom of post). My necklace is an old J. Crew Factory long statement necklace. I wore Kate Spade Earrings, over the knee (pulled below the knee) cream knit socks (from Ross – I’m all about bargains), and my favorite pair of brown boots from Nordstrom Rack (again, all about bargains). In my mind, this type of outfit was very simple yet classic and perfect for the early fall weather that graced Northern Virgina today. Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons because I am all about over-sized sweaters, boots, scarves, and layering. And today was an appetizer for the outfits to come and I cannot wait to share my mixing and matching with y’all.
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
