October 27, 2017 – Post number two for SimplyEJV and I am so excited to finally get in the swing of sharing my passion for fashion with y’all! Many of you will soon come to find out that stripes and navy are two of my favorite things and two of the things that I wear most often. My outfit today was a very typical Emily Jane outfit. I looked like I stepped right out of a J. Crew catalog (which I basically did).
The two main pieces of today’s outfit were brought to you thanks to J. Crew Factory. My belt (not pictured) is also from J. Crew Factory from years ago. The beautiful striped shirt I’m wearing is the “Long-sleeve striped boatneck T-shirt” in red oat stripe in XXS and the shirt fits very true to size (I’m small and it works perfectly for me; link at bottom of post). My go-to jeans (as seen above) are the “Rinse wash midrise skinny jean with 30″ inseam” (I have obnoxiously long legs and need the extra 2 inches; link at bottom of post). For years I struggled to find jeans that fit me. I have annoyingly long legs and I have a very small waist. Until I discovered J. Crew, Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister were my go-to jeans but I hated how badly those jeans stretched out after ONE wear. The J. Crew jeans are AMAZING! They fit me so well, they are actually long enough for my legs, and they maintain their fit for multiple wears. Going with the trend of items I’ve had stashed in my closet for years but never found the perfect outfit to wear them with (like my red J. Crew belt that’s hidden), my blazer is a Jack Wills Blazer that I bought 5 years ago and have worn once . . . until now. I guarantee y’all will see this blazer popping up more and more on the blog. I didn’t realize how amazing it is until I put it on today and it pulled my outfit together and made it everything I was hoping and more. The detail on the back is so simple and adorable, you can kind of see the detail in the picture by the tree. But I was in a rush to take pictures before I left for work because the natural light would be gone when I got home. Now on to the next item of today’s outfit: my shoes. Today I wore Coach loafers from MARSHALL’S (talk about a bargain). They are so comfortable and the off-white color makes them very versatile. Although you can’t see my accessories, I wore large Kate Spade New York Pearl Earrings and a Kate Spade New York watch. And my glasses (one of my favorite things) are Tiffany & Co. (but purchased at COSTCO – SCORE!).
I love the days that I work because it gives me an excuse to play with makeup, hair, and experiment with different outfits and individual pieces in my closet. I always feel like I have nothing to wear when in reality, my closet is bursting at the seams. Since I started working for J. Crew Factory, I’ve found that I question my “lack” of outfit choices much less. I force myself to put things together that I wouldn’t pick on a regular day or when I was at university. Doing this has shown me that my closet doesn’t lack choice, in fact, it is full of choices. I realized that I lacked the “imagination” and opportunity to wear most of my clothes. My dilemma until now was who wants to wear a super put together outfit to class in college when you can wear Nike running shorts and an over-sized tee? Not this girl. Don’t get me wrong, I still rock the “norts” and over-sized shirts but now I put to use my other clothes and I love it.
I apologize for the rambling and wordiness of this post. But bear with me, I’m still trying to get the hang of this whole blogging thing and figure out what should be said in a blog post to prevent the rambling.
I hope y’all enjoyed this outfit and my thoughts about each piece.
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
