November 12, 2017 – It’s been so long since the last time I blogged, but my life has been crazy for the last week. After going down to my University to celebrate homecoming weekend and then constantly getting called into work on my off days (not complaining though!), my life has been NONSTOP. It feels amazing to be able to sit down, relax, and share today’s outfit with y’all. This weekend was frigid and the weather was the perfect excuse to start layering all my favorite winter/late fall items.
Today, I decided to mix and match some of my more neutral items. And I am so happy with how cute this outfit turned out.
Before I get to the mixing and matching neutrals, I’ll start with today’s accessories. Not pictured are one of my favorite pair of earrings, they are the Pinball stud earrings from J. Crew Factory (surprise, surprise). They are such a simple yet elegant piece. And they go with just about anything. The tortoise link necklace (from J. Crew Factory) that I wore today was my “inspiration” piece for today’s outfit. My goal was to figure out a way to fool one of unspoken “don’t’s” of fashion: wearing black and brown together. The tortoise link necklace is evidence that done correctly, black and brown look great together. And without tooting my own horn, I’m pretty sure I nailed my goal and put together a killer outfit. The Cotton-wool Teddie Sweater (from J. Crew Factory, of course) in heather camel pulls out just enough of the brown in the tortoise link necklace and makes the gold zipper of my Quilted Puffer Vest (in black; from J. Crew Factory) stand out, pulling out the gold in my earrings (hidden behind my hair in the pictures). Also, the black puffer vest and the black in the tortoise link necklace compliment each other perfectly. To no surprise, I’m wearing my favorite jeans from none other than J. Crew Factory. Y’all have heard tons about these jeans already, but just in case you need a refresher these jeans are the Rinse wash midrise skinny jean with 30″ inseam. And I love love love them! Like I’ve already mentioned, these jeans wear extremely well, they hold their shape after multiple wears (and washes), they are comfortable and not stiff like other jeans, and they are the best thing ever. I also discovered recently that their front pockets are actually real pockets (unlike most women’s jeans), I can easily fit my phone in the pockets and even though they’re actual pockets they don’t stick out or lay funny in the front. The last item of my outfit today was the Coach Women’s Olive Chalk Pebble Grain Leather Loafer. I’ve talked about these loafers before but I have finally found a link on Amazon to purchase them, I struggled before because I purchased them at Marshalls. The loafers are made by Coach and they are extremely comfortable. If I’m picky about one thing, it’s shoes. I have extremely narrow feet and an incredibly high arch, so comfortable shoes are a MUST for me. The first time I wore these shoes, they rubbed the backs of my heels but after the initial “breaking in” wear, they are felt like slippers.
Today at work, this outfit was such a hit. And 3 customers actually purchased one (if not all) of the items I was wearing from J. Crew Factory because they loved the simplicity of the outfit. So if anyone is in search of necessary neutral pieces for their closets (that also looking amazing together), I totally recommend purchasing some of the items I wore today.
