April 5, 2018 – Happy April Y’all! Can you believe that it’s already April?! 2018 is flying by and I was not prepared for it. Now that April has finally arrived, so has my (or one of my) favorite season(s): SPRING! I cannot wait to bring out my florals, bright colors, open-toed shoes, sundresses, and more.
It still might be a little too cold for all of that but I took advantage of the beautiful sunshine today so that I could share my new go-to spring shoes (and one way to style them).
Marc Fisher wedges: I’m sure many of you have seen some of your favorite bloggers raving about them and you’ve probably seen various styles of the wedges, whether they are the Adalyn Espadrille Wedge or the perforated Suede Wedges (like I’m wearing). Well now, I’m going to be one of the many people that love these shoes.
Here’s a little backstory; I have wanted these wedges since last year when they were first introduced but being a recent college graduate and having little splurging money, I couldn’t justify spending over $150 on a pair of shoes (adulting is hard, that’s all I have to say). When the wedges came back out this year, I oo-ed and awed once again, but still couldn’t justify spending that much money on shoes. That was until last Friday. On a whim, I begged my family to go into a Nordstrom Rack by a very popular high-end mall because that particular store always has the best products. I went in with little hope that I would find these wedges, let alone in the size and color I want. However, I was very quickly proven wrong because right in front of me were the perforated suede Marc Fisher wedges with a price tag that was very affordable for me. I was sold, to say the least. I am usually hesitant to buy large heels now (yay for dancers toes) because my feet just can’t handle being in the pointed position for too long without it being extremely painful. BUT, these wedges proved to be amazing! I wore them to work two days after I purchased them, was on my feet for 4 hours straight, and I was in ZERO pain. I honestly could not believe it, I still don’t but they were truly extremely comfortable.
After my experience wearing the wedges, they are 100% worth the price tag (I just, unfortunately, didn’t have the room in my budget to justify spending that money – but if I did I would’ve bought the wedges months ago). Like I said at the beginning of my spiel about the wedges there are a few different styles, the Adalyn Espadrille Wedge is the most popular wedge and the ones that sell out the fastest [Nordstrom Wedges]. And the perforated suede wedges (the style I owe) are the second favorite (my #1) and they are also a little cheaper (yay!) [Macy’s Wedges]. Now how to style them.
My goal for today was to create a casual outfit while still adding a little sass with the wedges. By pairing the wedges with jeans, a loose white tee, field jacket, and gold accessories, you have a look that is dressed up but also very casual. I decided to wear my low-rise super skinny jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch to give me the fitted look on the bottom while maintaining a less form-fitting look on top. The white v-neck shirt I’m wearing is from J. Crew Factory and it is the perfect white tee. You can either half tuck the shirt in (like I did) or tie a small knot in the corner to create an effortless look. I love this tee because it is so soft, so comfortable, and just perfect. When paired with the field jacket (that y’all know I adore) from J. Crew or J. Crew Factory, you go from drab to fab and the rolled sleeve are an added touch.
To add more fabulousness to my outfit, I added a pop of gold with my accessories. The accessories I wore today are no longer sold at J. Crew Factory but I found some very similar pieces from J. Crew. I wore a gold tassel necklace that followed the shape of the shirt neckline to elongate my torso (or that’s what I tell myself it does) and like I said, a similar piece is available at J. Crew. If I didn’t already have a long gold tassel necklace, I would totally buy this necklace as well. It’s so cute but, alas, I need to save not spend. To bring out the gold in my necklace and jacket buttons, I wore a chunky and bold pair of gold hoops from J. Crew Factory (again, similar earrings at J. Crew). In my mind, every girl needs a fun pair of gold hoops and these are most certainly one of mine. I wear these earrings all the time and I love how light they are despite how chunky they look. I also love that they don’t tarnish or lose their gold hue no matter how often I wear them.
The last item on my list today is my Ray-Ban look alike (or dupe) Round Sunglasses. I bought these babies a year ago from Amazon for $13.99 (compared to the the Ray-Ban from of $150+) and I LOVE THEM. Honestly, if it’s sunny, I don’t leave the house with them in my purse. They are definitely not the same quality as the Ray-Bans would be (DUH, they were $13.99), but they are still very cute, comfortable, and work great. They also last a long time for the price tag. When I bought them, I thought they would last maybe 6 months and then I would buy a different pair of sunglasses dupes from Amazon but I was very wrong. A year later and these sunnies are basically as good as new. However, once, I actually have enough money to splurge on items I adore, I will be buying the actual Ray-Ban Round Sunglasses in pink (of course) and my bank account might cry for a minute (but, it would be so worth it because I have wanted these sunnies for YEARS).
Well, no more babbling for me. Hope y’all enjoyed today’s post about some of my favorite spring go-to’s!
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
