April 7, 2018 – Boy am I glad that the weekend has finally arrived! But I’m not too happy about this frigid weather that hit the East Coast this weekend. I thought that we made it past the cold weather, Mother Nature? I guess not.
Despite the less than ideal weather that we’re experiencing right now, I still wanted to share the cutest spring top in my wardrobe right now. If any of y’all follow my Instagram (@SimplyEJV – if you don’t), you know how much I adore this top. I have only had it for a short period of time but I have found so many ways to style it.
Today’s outfit shows two different ways to style this printed bell-sleeve top from J. Crew Factory while wearing all the same pieces. As you can see, the top looks adorable with the bottom peplum tucked into a pair of white high-rise jeans. And it also looks just as cute with the shirt untucked. The white jeans add a springy touch to the already springy shirt. White jeans, to me, look good with just about anything and high-rise jeans are an added bonus. I have also paired this shirt with regular medium wash high-rise jeans for a more transitional look.
The shirt is full of colors and patterns, so I wanted to make sure I kept the rest of the outfit subdued and more neutral to avoid being “too in your face”. The good thing about the colorful shirt is that it gives you lots of choices for jewelry. Here I stuck to simple accessories, like gold hoop earrings. Since the shirt has pinks, greens, and blues in the pattern, your jewelry options are endless. I have worn this shirt with blush statement earrings from Baublebar, pearls, and gold pieces.
The final touch to this outfit that makes it perfect for the Spring is a pair of nude shoes. For this particular combination, I chose nude block heels. I bought these block heels a year ago from Off-Broadway Shoes and have had no luck trying to find them for y’all. Sam Edelman sells a very similar pair that is on my wish-list. Nude shoes are the perfect neutral shoe for this outfit because the top has so much going on, and a little heel adds some sass to an innocent pattern. In colder weather, I have worn nude pointed toe flats to still maintain the springy feel of the outfit while still keeping my little toes warm.
Hopefully, the cold weather passes very soon so I can start sharing more wonderful spring outfits with y’all without freezing taking pictures.
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
