Spring Neutrals

April 11, 2018– Happy Wednesday Everyone!  Remeber how in Monday’s blog post, I mentioned that I was no longer going to look at Monday’s and the beginning of new weeks in a negative light (i.e. focusing solely on the Monday blues), well week one of my new mindset is going GREAT.  It also helps that today marks halfway through the week, which means hello weekend.  And, this weekend is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous (I’m talking like 80-degree weather)!

To prepare for the heat wave coming my way this weekend, I decided to break out this little lace cami from Abercrombie & Fitch.  Now I know what some of y’all may be thinking, “Abercrombie & Fitch, really?”  Trust me I thought the same thing a couple of months ago, I thought it was so high school and would’ve laughed at myself still buying clothes from them.  But, I promise y’all, Abercrombie has become cool again (and not high school).  The company went through a rebranding and revamping and I am so happy about it.

If I’m being honest, I’ve been looking at this lace-trim cami for a few months but I’m a girl on a budget and needed to wait for it to go on SUPER SALE.  Two weeks ago that happened.  Some of y’all who shop at Abercrombie know exactly what I’m talking about and for those that don’t, Abercrombie had 50% off everything.  That sale meant that this cami was now in my budget, so of course, I bought it.  I love this top and I know that it is going to be a warm-weather staple.  It is very lightweight, flowy, and a great layering piece.  My one complaint about this lace-trim cami is that it is pretty see-through.  For going out with the girls or anything casual, it is perfect without wearing anything underneath it.  However, I decided to wear it to work so I opted to wear a white cami (mine is so old from Aeropostale, but any white cami works) under the shirt to give myself a little more coverage.  Again, even though it is see-through, I still absolutely adore this top and will constantly be wearing it.

I chose to pair this lace-trim cami with a tan open front cardigan.  Mine is from Abercrombie & Fitch, but I got it almost three years ago from TJ Maxx.  Whenever I wear this cardigan, I always get compliments because of the crotchet detail split in the back and the flowy nature of the cardigan.  Unfortunately, because I got my cardigan so long ago this particular one is no longer available.  I did find three other open front cardigans that are very similar to the one I’m wearing from Abercrombie.  The first one is the most similar in color (in my opinion).  This one is from Nordstrom Rack and the brand is 14th & Union.  The second one is most similar in style in my mind.  This one is from Forever 21 and the side slit is very similar to the back slit in mine.  And the last one is from LOFT and I just adore this sweater (in the color pink fizz) and will be purchasing it once they have another wicked sale.

Since I wanted to stick to neutral tones for this outfit, I decided to wear a pair of flower statement earrings.  These earrings are another piece that I’ve had in my closet for a while.  I got these flower studs about two years ago from a store in England called Primark.  And I wear them nonstop during the Spring and Summer.  Because they are an older piece that I have, like the cardigan, I’ve linked a few other earring options that are very similar to these.  I have four options in the widget at the top of the post and three more options in the widget in this section.

Lastly, I finished off my outfit with my black high-rise jeans from J. Crew Factory (no one should be shocked about that).  Y’all know that these jeans (any jeans from J. Crew Factory really – especially high-rise jeans) are my absolute favorite jeans.  And, the black jeans added a nice contrast to the lighter neutrals in the rest of my pieces.  To pull in the neutral tones, I finished off my look with my Saddle Zoe Suede d’Orsay Flats from J. Crew Factory.  These flats are my absolute favorite.  I know that I say almost everything I own is my “absolute favorite”, but I really do love these shoes.  They are extremely comfortable (once you break them in), they go with basically everything, the pointed toe and open sides add a little sassy, and I just love the color.

What I’m basically getting to is, I pulled this outfit together on a whim hoping that it would turn out how it looked in my head and, in my opinion, this outfit was everything I wanted it to be and so much more.  I hope y’all love it just as much as I did when I wore it!

Until Next Time,

Emily Jane
