April 18, 2018 – Happy Hump Day Y’all! For those of you counting down to the weekend, we’re halfway there! For me, I was counting down to today because today is my day off for the week (yay retail). And it’s absolutely gorgeous out today (a little chilly) but still a lot warmer than the past two days. The “warmer” temperatures meant I could break out this t-shirt dress from Loft that I’ve had tucked away in my closet for a few months.
When I saw this dress in LOFT a few months ago, I knew it needed to find a home in my closet (is anyone shocked?). This dress was the first item that I ever bought from LOFT (y’all know that I’m a J. Crew girl but I think I’m becoming a LOFT gal as well). I was a little worried when I went into LOFT because I am tall and very skinny and I was worried that I wouldn’t find anything that fit me properly. However, this dress fits very true to size. I’m wearing an extra small (for reference). If they sold this dress in an extra extra small regular (I am no way petite – my legs are too long for that), I would’ve definitely considered getting the xx-small instead. However, the x-small fits with no issues and gives the dress a more flowy look.
Now about the actual dress. The Bow Back Short Sleeve Swing Dress immediately caught my eye for many reasons. I love the stretchy material of the dress, the unique take on stripes, and how soft the dress is. The dress also has a unique back to it that sets it apart from my other t-shirt dresses.

Instead of having the typical t-shirt dress back (i.e. continuing the crewneck collar all the way around with no back detail), this dress has a chiffon material tie. And let me tell you, I am absolutely in love with all things bows. So now you can probably tell even more why I needed it to find a home in my closet. The bow back made the dress even more adorable (sorry that it’s a little floppy here). Because of the bow detail, I knew this dress would be perfect for a quick and easy outfit for errands, a day out, a date (which is why I wore it today), or anything really.
T-shirt dresses are one of my favorite types of dresses because you have the ability to dress them up or down. I chose to wear the dress with white low top converse for a more comfy casual look. I wear my converse with just about everything I can. Because I have white converse they go with so many things. Converse make a seemingly dressy outfit to a more casual level and they are so comfortable. I also love converse because I have pretty tiny and narrow feet and these fit me perfectly. I wear a size 6 or 6.5 in shoes (usually a 6) and I wear a 6 in converse. For this outfit, I could have worn sandals or wedges to dress it a up more but I chose to wear my converse so I was comfortable while I was at work while still looking cute for my date after my shift was over.

To make sure that my outfit wasn’t too casual, I wore my Pinata BaubleBar earrings in light pink (however, these specific earrings are sold out everywhere). I have recently discovered BaubleBar earrings and to say I’m in love is an understatement. BaubleBar has earrings for every occasion. They are a tad pricey and I would in no way spend $48 on a pair of earrings, however, if you are patient (like I was) you can snag an expensive pair of earrings for a steal (I think I got these earrings for $10).

Like I mentioned at the beginning of my post, it was “warmer” today but it was still pretty chilly (compared to the 80-degree weather we had this past weekend). Because of the minor cold front that came to the East Coast, I needed a little something to keep me warm when I was outside and something that was thin enough for inside if I needed a layering piece. For this outfit, I wanted something that matched my earrings and added a little pop of color. Now, sadly I didn’t get any pictures with my layering piece. But, for this outfit, I chose to wear my Sheer Open Cardigan in the color Pink Fizz from LOFT. This cardigan is the perfect layering piece. It is thick enough to keep you from getting a chill when outside in the breeze and thin enough to keep you from getting too hot when inside. It is definitely sheer but I expected that as it is called the Sheer Open Cardigan. However, the picture of the Pink Fizz sweater does not appear like the cardigan is sheer if you want a good idea of how sheer it is look at any of the other colors. I do love that it is a little sheer because it is perfect for the Spring and Summer months. Again, I’m wearing an extra small in this cardigan and it fits me perfectly, an xx-small would be way too tight on the arms.
Hopefully none of y’all are having to deal with the snow that is affecting parts of the United States in APRIL! And I hope that you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed sharing this outfit with y’all.
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
