May 30, 2018 – I’m back! After a much-needed break to reevaluate what my goals for this blog are, SimplyEJV is up and running again. If you are an avid follower and reader, you know that I have been MIA for the past month after being very active throughout the month of April. However, for May I decided that I wanted to take a step back to figure out the “why” behind my blog. And very soon I’ll be a posting a somewhat personal blog about what I realized during my month off. BUT, until then I’m back with a new and improved website and vision for SimplyEJV. And my first post is all about WHITE DENIM! For those of you who struggle to find outfits to wear with these pants, this blog is for you.
P.S. Bear with me because this post is going to be a longer one!

Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, the old adage of not wearing white jeans before then can be ignored until September because it is officially WHITE JEANS SEASON! As y’all can tell, I am very excited about that and I obviously didn’t listen to that “rule” because I wear white denim year round.
There is something special about a pair of white jeans that makes summer feel ever present. I think it could be how bright they are (in a subtle way) or how tan they make you look (even if you are super pale, like me). Whatever that special something is, I’m a big fan. White jeans are essentially a blank canvas for you to create whatever kind of outfit you want to. You can go bold with a bright top, like look one. You can go a little more subdued with a subtle top, like look two. Or you can go all white (if you dare), like look three. With white jeans basically, everything matches.

What girl doesn’t love a little pop of pink? Because this girl sure does. And this scalloped cami from J. Crew Factory provides the perfect pop of color. I have this particular top in the wild berry color (seen here) and the marine salt. And to say I am obsessed with these tops would be an understatement. I have a few cami’s in this poly material that are not lined and cling to all the wrong places, however, these tops from J. Crew Factory are fully lined and hide everything that needs to be hidden. They are perfect for work with a pencil skirt, pants, and a cardigan or blazer and they are perfect for fun (seen here). If you have been on the hunt for a cami that is extremely versatile and flattering, look no further.
This top paired perfectly with my white wash high-rise skinny jeans from J. Crew Factory. The bright pink was a perfect contrast to the stark white denim and it provided enough contrast without being too much. To tone things down a tad, I decided to accent the various colors in my outfit with navy accessories. The gingham sandals tones down the bright pink and emphasizes my white denim. And the navy flower earrings pull in the navy in my sandals. This outfit is by far one of my favorites and will be worn various times this summer. Now for a little more subtle outfit.

Look number two continued to emphasize differing colors, like look one, but in a more subtle way. I fell in love with this tie-neck top the minute it arrived at J. Crew Factory. The printed tie-neck tank top in rustic ocean stole my heart, and my money. The top is a mock halter top and it is absolutely perfect for summer. When I saw this top, I immediately started to picture how good it would look with white jeans, white shorts, navy shorts, etc. After I realized how many different outfits I could create with this top, I knew it needed to be added to my closet. And, it was. I paired the top with pearls and gold Jack Rogers to keep it simple and to keep the focus of the outfit on the details in the top. I wore this outfit to a winery and got countless compliments on how adorable the top is and I completely agree.
For some people, the print might be too busy. But, before you are deterred by the print, let me brag about how cute it is. I agree that yes the print could be considered a little busy, but because the detailing is so small when the shirt is on it does not look busy whatsoever. You can see in the pictures that up close there is a lot going on, but from a normal persons view, the shirt is one fluid pattern. I seriously adore this top and I already know that I will be wearing it all summer long and for many summers to come.

If you are the type of person who has terrible luck when it comes to finishing meals without wearing any part of it, I say this nicely but this outfit is not for you. I am a pretty clean eater but even I was terrified when I wore this outfit out to dinner with my boyfriend. However, this outfit is so cute that it just might be worth the risk! If you are feeling daring, keep reading to hear all about this monochromatic outfit.
This time last year, I would not have been caught dead in an all-white outfit. Not out of fear of spilling on myself, but because I was a firm believer that outfits needed color contrast. Truthfully, it wasn’t until I began blogging that I learned that, when done correctly, monochromatic outfits are absolutely darling (especially all white ones). I tested this outfit out about a month and a half ago during a work shift to see how customers and colleagues reacted to this outfit and I was very happy with peoples opinions, so it was time to break out this all-white outfit again. This is probably my favorite way that I have styled my white jeans. I paired this eyelet tank top (old from Abercrombie & Fitch – when I say old, I mean like 5 years old) with my white wash high-rise jeans, added some pops of blush with my accessories and shoes, and wore my favorite denim jacket from J. Crew Factory to add a little more contrast. This all-white outfit is perfect for date night, day trips, picnics (but bring a blanket – grass stains aren’t fun), etc.
My only tip when it comes to wearing an all-white outfit is to make sure you add pops of color with your accessories and shoes. I wore my blush Pinata BaubleBar (sadly sold out) earrings and my favorite blush scalloped Marc Fisher Flatforms (again, sadly sold out). The earrings and shoes brought blush throughout the entire outfit and the flatforms gave me a little extra height.
Whether you have graduation parties to attend, dinner dates to go on, girls nights to celebrate, or parties just because, white jeans are always a fun option (plus they make you look more tan then you actually are).
Until Next Time,
Emily Jane
